What counselling means to me and what I can offer you

It is my belief that our journey through life can throw-up a variety of difficulties at different stages, that can test and challenge us in many ways. I believe that counselling offers individuals unique time to talk openly about the difficulties they are facing and the space to slow their thoughts down, so that they can look inwardly, hopefully finding clarity and answers to some of the questions they may have. Counselling offers a space without judgement and the opportunity to talk to someone that is impartial and not directly involved within your day-to-day life. As part of my own counselling journey, I have had the opportunity to explore and understand unhelpful and unhealthy coping mechanisms, as well as space to reflect upon my early life experiences and how these have shaped the person I have become. Counselling can also offer the opportunity to gain greater understanding of the relationships we have and consider how we might like them to be different. Throughout the process of counselling, an alternative and honest perspective can be offered and an opportunity to grow in self-awareness, self-confidence and self-compassion can be gained.

As a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor, I have studied a variety of different counselling approaches and theories, including Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic theory. This gives me a variety of tools and enables me to draw upon a wider range of knowledge and theory when supporting my clients to explore their circumstances . I offer both short and long term counselling, which is based upon your individual needs and what you would like to gain from our time together. Sessions can take place on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

During our first session together, we will cover all the boundaries surrounding our work together, including confidentiality. Strict confidentiality is always maintained and is an essential part of building a trusting and safe relationship. Confidentiality is not possible in the instance of specific illegal activity, or if I believe at any stage during our work together that you or someone else are at risk of harm. This includes the wellbeing and safety of children. This will be explained in more detail to you when we meet.

The Counselling Space

When arriving for a session with me, parking can be found on Lockers Park Road, Hemel Hempstead. Access is gained via a back gate (up a very short alleyway), where you will find a door number and door bell to ring.

Unfortunately, I do not have wheelchair access to my counselling room and do not offer toilet facilities, as it is important to me to keep my home and work space separate.

I have created an office room in the garden of my home, in which I offer counselling sessions. This means that I can meet with you face to face in person, but also offer online sessions if these would be more convenient for you. It has been really important to me to create a space that is quiet, comfortable and relaxing for clients.

Be the best version of you…
